We don’t know about you, but we definitely need some more rays of sun this year. Just some more rides in short jerseys, some more little adventures, some more glasses of beer at the beach, watching the sundown. So we decided that we are going to southern Spain for a week. And we will take you with us – but only if you want us to, of course. 😉
We are heading for the region of Murcia, where we already hit the gravel roads in 2019 and 2020, in a time before this whole Corona thing. This is also where our Idea of the Gravel Club was forged.
The little known region at Costa Calida blew us away every day on every ride we did. Be it riding on coastal dirt roads or in the surprisingly fruitful back country, we discovered many amazing routes for us and our bikes. And we fell in love with the sometimes a little rough friendliness of the people down there. Now we want to show you around.
We want to do this in a shared flat style. So we booked a whole house for our group instead of staying in a hotel. The breakfast will be taken care of, the rest is up to us as a community. There will be no agenda but having a good time together both on and off our bikes. Every day we will decide together what to do and where to go the next day. But don’t be afraid, there a many, many great options. We’ll also decide whether we want to hit a nice local restaurant or rather shop some groceries and do the cooking ourselves.
In this mode we can also decide whether we want to load the bikes in the cars for exploring the Sierra Nevada for a day. Or maybe someone is up for an overnighter with staying in a hut in the mountains.
The house itself is situated only a few steps from the sea, we have a little swimming pool and of course a washing machine to get the dust out of our clothes.
We will stay in twin rooms and we have a special mode for booking. For the initial phase, half of the places available will be reserved for women, the other half for men.
We strive for a sustainable, ecological way of live. This is why for example we will try to provide a breakfast with regional products, produced under ecological and fair conditions. But travelling to Spain on a climate neutral base obviously is hard. We ourselves will try to get down there by train respectively car. We like to encourage you to do the same, but we know that some of you might have to take a flight. Therefore, we decided to pay a compensation for every participant, no matter how she or he will travel. Right now, we are looking for a suitable project in the region of Murcia.
You are responsible for getting yourself and your bike to Murcia. Next airports are Alicante (ALC) and Murcia (RMU). From the airport it’s like 60-90 minutes by car. You might also consider taking the overland bus. Prior to the trip we would like to set up a group with all participants, giving you the opportunity for rental car pooling.
This event only can and will take place, if we get the required number of participants for Gravel Land Murcia. If this should not be the case, we will refund your money fast and uncomplicated.
Participants of Gravel Land Murcia have to be either recovered from or vaccinated against COVID-19.
So? Are you in? Hurry up and register for this great week in Spain. We can’t wait to meet you there.
